The Thai Journalists Association (TJA) has demanded that red-shirt leaders prevent their followers from obstructing reporters who are doing their jobs.

The TJA made the demand in a statement issued after the red-shirts announced they could not guarantee the safety of media workers, whom they accused of biased reporting.

The TJA asked the protesters to cease their violence and the government to use peaceful means to solve the crisis, not force.

The journalists association called on fugitive prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra to stop instigating violence by the protesters.
